Rowling, writer of the most profitable books in the history of publishing. And yet the excitement surrounding the release of the last novel in the Mormon housewife's "Twilight" series -- "Breaking Dawn" -- is decidedly Harry Potter-esque in its scale and scope. The book goes on sale in North America at midnight on Fri. , and many thousands of Meyer fans are predicted at bookstores across the continent to get 1st dibs on the 4th and last instalment to find out what becomes of series hero Bella and her vampire lover, Edward. Chapters-Indigo stores across Canada are hosting midnight masquerade parties to celebrate the release. Thirteen-year-old Ru MacDonald is among the Canadian fans caught up in the excitement. The Halifax teenager was in the town's Woozles Kids's Book shop this week snatching up the 3rd instalment in the series, "Eclipse" so she'll be prepared for Fri.'s release. "I love them" she announced in a phone interview from the store. Fenn, Meyer's "Twilight" series has been a roaring success, the largest series it's ever been concerned with. "It's gigantic" claims Tom Best, director of selling for H.B. "There are plenty of folk exclaiming she is the successor obvious to J.K. But both Best and Trevor Dayton, VP of the kids's book division at Chapters-Indigo, say older girls are also now starting to discover the books that Meyer, a 34-year-old ma of 3, conceived of following a dream. "Every book has doubled the sales of the prior book" Dayton related Thu. . The runaway success of the series has been principally been fuelled by online fans, Dayton added. "All of the activity occurred in the blogosphere and social networking sites, and that's actually where this thing took off" he claimed. And Stephenie Meyer herself, from the outset, has been great about communicating with her fans alone web site, so they are just as actively engaged, if not more actively engaged, in the series as Harry Potter fans were.". Whilst "Breaking Dawn" is the last in the series to inform the tale of Bella and Edward from Bella's point of view, Meyer has claimed she's working on a prequel and will write more books from other personalities' points of view. A film based mostly on the 1st book in the series, "Twilight" released in 2005, arrives in theatres this winter. "I am going to be standing in line to see that flick. |
