The performance was formerly prepared at The Mersey House, as was promoted in The Queens County Advance. Story is well-known in central Ontario for her theatre, dance and film work and has twice been designated for the Ontario humanities Councils K.M. Whilst this is her 1st novel, Storys short stories have been revealed in Damaged Pencil and Kiss Machine mags, and her written works have been produced as plays, performance art pieces, and theatre-dance productions in Ontario and Newfoundland. Blasted is the tale of Ruby Jones, a young Newfoundlander stumbling between love affairs and towns and haunted by the conundrums that surround her pa and generations before. Geographically, the book definitely mines some of my personal experience, asserts Story, who was raised in Newfoundland and lived in Toronto before settling in Peterborough, Ontario. Ruby lives on the same road I grew up on in St Johns and in the same residence I had in Toronto, she asserts. The Southside, childhood home of both Ruby and Story, lies across the harbor from St Johns correct and is a bit magical, Story announces. The Southside is also historically said to be on the incorrect side of the tracks.. Ruby carries that double bequest of sorcery and hard-living with her as she rebounds forwards and backwards between her birthplace and Toronto, making her living as a waitress and sometime naked model.

Along the way, Ruby crosses trails with an array of clear characters : her irascible granddad, stylish Cree artist Blue, her whiskey-slugging Aunt Queenie, and others. Blasted has received advance praise from some of Newfoundlands most respected writers, including Stream Burglars writer Michael Crummey, who announced Storys book raw and peculiar and funny and affecting. Anne Hart, a St Johns-based memoirist and expert in Newfoundland studies, called Blasted an impossible to resist 1st novel.. The threesomes original compositions morph into normal and recent songs and back again, underscoring Storys reading and rousing the moods and themes of Blasted. Story and her musical entourage shall visit some other communities, including Toronto, Peterborough, Fredericton, Broad Cove, Bear Stream , and Halifax, before arriving in St Johns on Sept.
