If you have left the comfort of air conditioning lately, you will have saw posters tacked all over the town featuring 4 folks exposed in a bed ( la "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" ) with bags over their head. It's for the film "Baghead" which hits theaters Fri.. And if you have been to the pictures lately, you could have also caught previews for another film called "Towelhead" which features heads, but no bags and no towels. Summary : Set in the suburbs of Houston, the film follows thirteen years old Jasira Maroun ( Summer Bishil ), an Arab-American confronting fascism and her very own sexual awakening - all in the presence of her stern dad ( Peter Macdissi ). Aaron Eckhart and Toni Collette are the enormous headliners. Primarily based on : A novel of the same name by Alicia Erian. Remarkable quote : "Don't make me out to be a fascist when I have your own interest at heart.". Title reason : Refers to an ethnic slur aimed at Arab-Americans. Summary : Set in the woods of Northern California, the film follows the creative collusion and sexual awakening of a gang of twentysomethings making an attempt to write a horror flick about a man with a bag over his head. Genus : Mumblecore ( a low-budget film movement concerning improvised scripts, digital video and rambling conversations about relations ) with a dose of horror. Star wattage : None, unless the bag is recycled from the picture "The Paper.". Based mostly on : A conversation about how frightening it might be to see someone with a bag over his head looking in your window. Remarkable quote : "Someone just came in my room with a bag over his head and no garments on. Title reason : Really? Have we got to explain? |
