No Plans to Make Latest Bond Novel into Film.

Eon Productions said it has no plans to make a film out of the most recent James Bond novel, "Devil May Care.". Filmmakers say that there are at the current time no plans to make the most recent James Bond novel, Devil May Care, into a film, the BBC reports. Producer Barbara Broccoli, of Eon Productions, informed Variety mag the company "loved" Birdsong writer Sebastian Faulks' novel. She added, "Because it is set in the 1960s, we haven't considered making it in the near future.". The book, broadcast in May to spotlight the centenary of the birth of Bond creator Ian Fleming, received enthusiastic reviews. A spokesman for Eon stated not ruled out a future Devil May Care film. Formerly , Faulks announced Eon liked the book but that it was their call if to make it into a film. Faulks, who is well known for historic stories including Charlotte Gray, was selected by Fleming's estate to pen the centenary novel. Faulks investigated Fleming's style by reading all the original Bond stories to capture it. Devil May Care became Penguin's fastest-selling hardback fiction title, selling 44,093 copies in its 1st a few days of publication. Relatively , prior Penguin best sellers by Tom Clancy and Nick Hornby have sold just about 11,500 copies in their 1st 4 days. |
